Optical fibers are used in laser power delivery for welding applications. It is typically used together with the YAG laser welding machine.
Optical fibers may be damaged after a prolonged period of use due to overheating, misalignment of laser mirror, contamination of fiber ends fiber surface. The optical fibers have to be replaced once there is a power delivery failure or if the fiber connector burns out.

Gold Technic can perform optical fiber repair for all types of laser power delivery fiber. The contaminated end surface of the optical fiber is terminated and a new surface is generated using special equipment developed in our production facility. The fiber is also checked for internal cracks and breakage in case of accidents where some of the fiber might be permanently subjected to internal stress or are frequently bent beyond the minimum bend radius.

During the optical fiber repair process, the cleaning stage is also crucial as we must ensure that the new fiber ends generated are free from contaminants such as oil, dirt or dust. Once the new surface is generated, new connectors are attached to both ends to ensure that the fiber is clean and performing at optimal temperature.

Lastly, the repaired fiber is sent for testing. It is important that all the laser fibers are tested before delivery to the end user as we must ensure that there is quality control in our products and services.
