This extension makes it really easy to get human-produced YouTube video captions, subtitles (translated captions), and even YouTube's automatic captions in either plain-text format or with time tags (.srt format).

Or use it to launch the DIY Captions Editor and make improvements to automatic captions to jumpstart the process of creating professional transcripts or captions for your videos or someone else's videos.

The extension also allows direct launch of the YouTube Transcription Pad, oTranscribe, and Amara, all tools with an integrated YouTube video player to make it easy to start, stop, and rewind while you transcribe.

Captions saved in the Amara system can be viewed directly in YouTube using the "Subtitles for YouTube Chrome" extension by Yash Agarval. No cooperation from the YouTube video owner required.
